Krakatoa Eruption/Tsunami 2018
The Anak Krakatau volcano, Indonesia, erupted on 22 December 2018 whereby 64 hectares of the volcano collapsed and reduced the height og the volcano by over 200 meters. The collapse was so powerful a tsunami occurred. People weren't given warning due to systems not designed to detect volcanic tsunamis. Tsunami waves reached over 5 meters in some places and it spread across 313km of coastline.The majority of the 426 deaths occurred in the Banten region, with deaths high due to people celebrating Christmas and New Year at popular coastal tourist destinations in this region.
