About this course

Delivered in a participative learning environment, the Risk Management in Civil Protection workshop will bring the seven-step process contained in Cabinet Office Local Risk Management Guidance to life.

Aimed at resilience practitioners who are new to risk management or experienced emergency planners who require a refresher, this workshop considers the local implications of recently published national guidance including the National Risk Register and the UK Government Resilience Framework.

Through an experiential learning approach, both participants and facilitators will balance understanding the guidance, doctrine, and legislation, with local case studies, lived experience, group exercises, peer learning and reflection.

This comprehensive 2-day workshop is aligned to the National Occupational Standard (NOS) SFJCCAB1 Anticipate and Assess the Risk of Emergencies, which focuses on anticipating and assessing the risk of emergencies affecting a locality or localities, sector, or organisation. It also includes working in cooperation with other emergency responders and communicating risk assessments to others. The workshop is also aligned to LRF National Resilience Standards 2 & 3, Local Risk Assessment and Communicating Risks to the Public.

To support building understanding and capability of risk management within civil protection.
