To provide practitioners with a detailed understanding of the physio-social effects of an emergency and how to support those who have been caught up in a traumatic event.
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
- Explain the purpose, value and methods of effective community engagement to prepare people for emergencies;
- Outline effective communication strategies used to work with communities who are caught up in a traumatic event;
- Discuss the requirements of a response from the point of view of the authorities and those who respond on their behalf;
- Describe established good practice that may be used to enable a sustainable people-focussed recovery process.
