Overview
Stepping into a strategic coordination role during a multi-agency emergency brings unique responsibilities — especially if you're new to the role or stepping in from another leadership context. This course offers a clear, accessible introduction to what strategic coordination involves, how decisions are made, and what others expect from you.
You’ll explore the key structures, principles and challenges of the UK’s strategic response environment — including how to operate under pressure, work with partners, and support longer-term recovery. You’ll also reflect on your own leadership style and how to stay effective in complex and uncertain situations.
Whether you’ll be attending a Strategic Coordination Group for the first time or simply want to build your confidence and awareness, this course is a practical first step. It’s also a great foundation if you’re considering further development through our full strategic incident leadership pathway.
