Dan Ward

Dan is an Associate with the Crowds and Public Safety Faculty, majoring in crowd safety and developing resilience in crowded place management. Dan is also the Lead Internal Verifier and an Assessor on the Spectator Safety Management programme.

Dan is responsible for the design and delivery of faculty courses, exercise and consultation, both on and off site. He was also the project manager for the first major EPC contract to deliver public safety, security and exercising to one of the largest shopping centre management companies in Europe.

As the Internal Verifier for the Spectator Safety management programme Dan is responsible for the standardisation and quality assurance of the team of assessors working with candidates, he also carries a portfolio of candidates.

Dan headed up the operational delivery of the re-build of Ashton Gate Stadium in Bristol, overseeing the integration of multiple sports in a rapidly developing venue.

Dan is also a well respected event safety manager, through previous roles as safety officer at over 200 events including England Football, the FA Cup Final, large concerts, rugby and public space events across the U.K. Dan is also experienced in event management for intricate operations involving the management of VIPs.

Dan was the Crowd Safety Manager for the Velodrome, Basketball and BMX (Velopark) at the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic games. Prior to this he was a Police Officer in the UK and New Zealand for a total of 15 years, majoring in Public Order, Major Incident Management and Training. Dan was also a member of the New Zealand Coastguard.
