Ian Dickinson

Ian has an extensive career as a former Chief Police Officer having served in Humberside, Lothian and Borders Police, as well as spending two years' in the Royal Hong Kong Police.

He was closely involved within specialised police operations and strategic emergency management within a multi-agency context, particularly in the leadership of Strategic Coordinating Groups based in Edinburgh.  Awarded the Queens Police Medal for services to policing following the G8 Summit in Scotland, Ian commanded operations which coincided with the ‘7/7’ terrorist attacks in London. He was also part of the 'Gold Police Response' to the terrorist attack on Glasgow Airport in 2007. 

Since leaving the Police Service Ian has worked extensively throughout the UK and overseas in emergency management consultancy and, particularly, at the strategic level of multi-agency resilience.

More recently he has been working at senior level in the UK providing strategic consultancy, exercising and training to the UK and Scottish Parliaments, UK senior civil service, major UK companies and similarly with overseas governments of Nigeria, Tunisia, Georgia and Middle East.
