Joint EPC & Merseyside LRF Conference

25/05/2017

On Monday 22nd May, the day that ended so tragically in Manchester, we held a conference with members and colleagues of the Merseyside Local Resilience Forum.  The title was Terrorism and Community Cohesion.

This one day seminar, Terrorism and Community Cohesion, was a free event by invitation – part of our outreach public programme.

Our media lead, Nigel Kay, was one of the speakers and he also did short filmed interviews with the other speakers, who very briefly talked about some of the main themes under discussion during the day.

Sadly, you know what happened in Manchester only a few hours later.  Our thoughts and wishes remain with those involved with and affected by this event.  We have decided to publish the interviews on our website as intended and as normal, and they can be viewed by following this link:

However, we do want to take this opportunity to explain how we came to be facilitating such a discussion at this time.

It had been planned for many months and was the third in a series – having been held previously in Manchester and Glasgow.  We issue at this time in tribute to the responders who have made the understanding of community cohesion after these events their business, to the speakers who gave their time to help in this and, above all, to the people of Manchester – who have given the world a lesson by how they have come together as a solid community in the aftermath of the appalling events of Monday night.
